1. Done! 100km in 15h 55m.
  2. More great work by Nike. This time in collaboration with YesYesNo who created a retail installation using a year’s worth of anonymous running data from the Nike+ website.

  3. David Millar on Cycling:

Masochistic? “Absolutely – it’s all about suffering. Often the best guys are just those that can suffer longer, who don’t give up. And it’s so easy to give up, when you’re on a mountain and it’s really hurting. We go through a lot physically.”

And, so … the attraction? “Well, they say it’s like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer – when you stop it feels great.”

Exactly how I’m feeling about ultramarathons and endurance running.

  4. Hydration pack acquired. Now, let me at those trails!
  5. Joe Sprange, Michael Taylor, Justin Hind and I are running the Oxfam Trailwalker this year. We’re planning to finish the 100k race in 15 hours.

Now, it’s mainly about post-training breakfast & coffee analysis for Team HTB but there’s also a very important aspect - raising funds for Oxfam. If you can spare any $ amount and help Team HTB meet the goal of $5k it would be much appreciated. Donations welcome at our Team page.

Team HTB comprises unofficial team captain Joe “Joey” Sprange, Dave “Morro” Morrison, Justin “Juzzy” Hind and Mike “MT” Taylor. Imagination when it comes to nicknames is not our strong point.
Joey is an award winning Ironman triathlete with recent ultra running experience from Tasmania’s torturous Cradle Mountain Overland (tree root) track. He lists his strengths at being “good at talking”, his weight at 82kg and his height as average. If Joe goes quiet on the trail, we’re in trouble. It hasn’t happened yet. Joey is kindly sponsoring 2XU clothing and SIS nutrition products.
Morro is the team’s caveman. A reference to his slightly patchy beard and an adherence to the Paleo diet. The beard is not in fact a way of differentiating himself from MT but in honour to his beloved girlfriend Emily B. He will remove the beard when he is reunited with Emily in New York later this year. Morro is a multiple marathon finisher.
Juzzy has the team’s fastest car but it can only seat two people. The fleetest of foot of the team across the rocks his athletic achievements include several marathon finishes and will debut at the NYC marathon later this year.
MT was drafted into the team primarily for his cafe review skills. He has the worst car but is happy to accommodate soiled running kit and odorous runners. MT took part in the Oxfam Trailwalker in 2001 and 2002 (and ensures everyone knows it).
As a team we’re proud to be involved with the amazing work that Oxfam carries out to reduce poverty across the world. Oxfam Trailwalker provides an opportunity to be both part of a fantastic fund raising effort and to bond with our mates out on the trail and over post training brunch.
